Our mission
Stand by children and underprivileged people in developing countries, supporting their creative processes by means of arts-oriented education and teaching them how to create a dignified existence for themselves, in harmony with their own cultural principles.

Our vision
AVALOKITA's perspective towards poverty reduction is, that beyond material poverty there is also a non-material poverty; the psychological sensation of being inferior.

The feeling being unfortunate, or having no hope to be able to create a good live, proves to be an important factor in slowing down the development of certain underprivileged groups.

In India, Avalokita have experienced that when awareness, creativity and action power are stimulated, the effect of material support increases simultaneously. The key word here is 'education'.

With the slogan 'From surviving to Living' Avalokita uses innovative methods in education to tackle non-material poverty. The methods are arts-oriented, meant for people to become creative in the stages of awareness stimulation, thinking, choice and action.

Our objectives

• To support Yatra Arts Foundation setting up an education center and developing tailor-made training courses;
• To support the Palmyra organization raising a Trust - a financial cooperation - for 2000 women living in the country side. The evaluation and delivery will be in 2009;
• To collaborate with a school in Iraq and the parents of these children regarding the quality of basic education;
• To finalize of the establishment of a credit facility for women near Auroville a safe drinking water project in India in the beginning of 2009.
